Inspired by the islands of Clew Bay, this abstract piece draws on the history, mythology and folklore that have shaped Ireland’s relationship with the sea. It evokes the legends of those who sailed these waters and the stories told to us as children—stories that ignite the imagination and transport us to worlds unknown. Rich in texture and light, the work depicts an island at night, reflected in the dark waters of the bay. Its warm green glow invites you to wonder who may have passed through these waters, where they were going, and what stories will remain long after we are gone. At its heart, the piece is also a reflection on our connection to the landscape: the importance of preserving and protecting what we have, while rejoicing in the abundance, beauty and inspiration it continues to provide.
