An abstract representation of the Irish summer along the green coastline of the west of Ireland when the montbretia is in bloom. The piece captures the movement and energy of tall, wind-swept grasses, their stems and flowers swaying against a deep green backdrop, brought to life with layers of richly textured acrylic paint.
It is one of my favourite times of year to take a lowland hike or walk the roadsides, particularly around the wetlands from Caronouski to Cross Beach, where flashes of vibrant orange montbretia bring colour to the hedgerows and marshes.
